Are you a passionate animal lover looking for a rewarding career? The South Wood County Humane Society has an opportunity for a reliable, professional, compassionate, and well-organized individual to join our family as an On Call Float, working some weekdays, every other weekend, and some holidays.

 
Position Summary
Job Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport stray animals to and from the South Wood County Humane Society
  • Ensure excellent customer service focused on maintaining and improving relationships in all aspects of our client-related work.
  • Keep detailed logs of lost or found animals
  • Maintain a positive and healthy work relationship with the Executive Director, Animal Behaviorist, Office Manager, Animal Care Director, and other On Call staff.
  • Maintain a positive and healthy work relationship with the Humane Officer and Police Departments.
  • Demonstrate safe and appropriate animal handling at all times.
  • Minimize disease transmission by staying current on and adhering to animal care cleaning guidelines.
  • Demonstrate a sound understanding and abide by the township contracts the SWCHS must follow in regards to lost or found animals.
  • Promote and model positive interpersonal communication and relationship building internal and externally.
  • Ensure health of animals by performing intake procedures and following established procedures for follow-up care needed.
  • All other duties assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Formal animal care experience a plus
  • Strong attention to detail in all aspects of work
  • Flexible, positive approach to challenges
  • Availability to work some weekdays, every other weekend, and some holidays.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Candidates must be able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Candidates must be committed to treating animals and humans with kindness and respect
  • Must be at least 18 years or older
  • Must have a clean driving record and be able to pass a standard background check.
